InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort
There is something rather special about arriving at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. The road winds through the lush Son Tra Peninsula before opening onto a secluded bay of white sand and clear blue water. It feels wonderfully hidden away, surrounded by jungle and mountains, yet Da Nang Airport is only about 30 minutes away.
Designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, the resort has a real sense of place. Traditional Vietnamese influences are woven throughout, from the dark timber interiors to the elegant lanterns and decorative details. The property is spread across four levels Heaven, Sky, Earth, and Sea connected by a funicular that glides quietly through the hillside.
Accommodation ranges from spacious rooms and suites to some of the finest private pool villas in Vietnam. Most have sweeping views over the bay, and it’s easy to spend an afternoon simply sitting on your terrace, listening to the waves below.
A typical day here might begin with breakfast at Citron, perhaps in one of its famous basket-shaped dining pods overlooking the sea. Afterwards, you could relax by the beach, enjoy a spa treatment or explore the surrounding forest, home to the rare red-shanked douc langur.
One of the things we particularly like about InterContinental Danang is that you can do as much or as little as you please. Some guests spend their entire stay within the resort, while others use it as a base to explore Hoi An, the Hai Van Pass, or the imperial city of Hue.
Dining is another highlight. La Maison 1888 has earned an international reputation for its fine French cuisine, while several other restaurants and bars offer everything from Vietnamese specialities to fresh seafood and relaxed beachfront dining.
As evening falls and the lights begin to twinkle through the trees, the resort takes on an almost magical atmosphere. It is the sort of place where a three-night stay somehow never feels quite long enough.
Why We Love It
The setting is difficult to beat. Hidden between the jungle and the sea, the resort feels completely removed from the outside world, yet central Vietnam’s cultural treasures are all within easy reach. Add beautiful accommodation, excellent dining and genuinely warm service and it’s easy to see why this remains one of our favourite beach retreats in Vietnam.
