Red Dragon Junk is a boutique steel vessel inspired by the original wooden Red Dragon, once admired for its intimate atmosphere and traditional character in Bai Tu Long Bay. With just eight elegant cabins, the cruise preserves the vessel’s distinctive batwing sail silhouette while offering enhanced comfort, privacy and refined modern design.
Sailing through the quieter waters of Bai Tu Long Bay, Red Dragon Junk takes guests on an off-the-beaten-path journey, away from the crowds and closer to the bay’s untouched landscapes, local culture and Vietnamese maritime heritage.
The Story Behind Red Dragon
During the 11th century, Van Don Port was one of Dai Viet’s most important trading centres. Merchant vessels arrived from across the region carrying silk, ceramics and handcrafted goods, connecting coastal communities through commerce and culture.
Inspired by this historic legacy, Red Dragon Junk recalls the spirit of those traditional trading vessels. Her distinctive batwing sail silhouette also pays tribute to the original Red Dragon, which sailed Bai Tu Long Bay in 2010.
Each cabin is thoughtfully named and designed around the traditional goods, craft villages and coastal livelihoods once associated with Van Don Port. Together, they create a refined onboard experience rooted in the history and human stories of Vietnam’s northeastern coast.
Rooms & Suites
Each cabin combines hand-finished teak, elegant Vietnamese-inspired details and modern comforts. Depending on the category, guests can enjoy a private loggia or balcony, premium bedding, an ensuite rain shower and a sea-view bathtub.

Located on the main deck, the Deluxe Cabin offers a comfortable and peaceful retreat with elegant interiors and views of the bay.
