Where to Go in April in Vietnam
April is a wonderful time to travel through Vietnam, with warm weather, beautiful landscapes and plenty of variety from north to south. It is an ideal month for combining cultural discovery, scenic cruising, beach time and relaxed stays in charming destinations.
Central Vietnam: Sunshine, Beaches & Heritage
Central Vietnam is one of the best places to visit in April. Hoi An, Da Nang and Hue enjoy warm, sunny days, making this a perfect time to explore the coast and historic towns.
Spend time wandering through Hoi An’s lantern-lit streets, relax on An Bang Beach, or enjoy a private tour of Hue’s Imperial Citadel and royal tombs. Da Nang is also a great base for beach stays, local food and visits to the Marble Mountains.
Northern Vietnam: Hanoi, Mountains & Limestone Landscapes
April brings warmer weather to Northern Vietnam, with clear days and lush countryside. Hanoi is ideal for exploring historic sites, cafés and local markets, while Ninh Binh offers peaceful river journeys through dramatic limestone scenery.
Sapa and Ha Giang are especially beautiful in April, with green valleys, colourful local markets and mountain views. Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay are also lovely for an overnight cruise, with comfortable temperatures for kayaking and time on deck.
Southern Vietnam: City Life, Mekong & Island Escapes
Southern Vietnam is still warm in April, with plenty of sunshine for exploring Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta and Phu Quoc Island. While brief showers may begin later in the month, they are usually short and refreshing.
The Mekong Delta is a rewarding choice for private boat trips, local food and peaceful riverside stays. Phu Quoc remains a great option for beach time, with luxury resorts, calm water and beautiful sunsets.
