Best Time to Visit Vietnam and Bali: A Luxury Traveler’s Guide
Combining Vietnam and Bali makes for one of Asia’s most rewarding journeys. One day you could be sailing through the limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay, and a week later, watching the sunset from a private villa overlooking Bali’s rice terraces.
Because the two destinations have slightly different weather patterns, timing your trip well can make all the difference.
For most travelers, the best time to visit Vietnam and Bali is between April and June, and again from September to early November. During these months, you’ll enjoy pleasant weather across much of Vietnam and Bali’s beautiful dry season.
April to June: The Perfect Combination
If we had to choose the ideal time for a Vietnam and Bali itinerary, this would be it.
Northern and central Vietnam enjoy warm, sunny days, while Bali is in the heart of its dry season with blue skies and low humidity. The landscapes are lush after the spring rains, beaches are inviting, and temperatures remain comfortable.
Perfect for:
- Honeymoons and romantic escapes
- Luxury beach and culture combinations
- Family holidays
- Outdoor activities and sightseeing
- Island hopping and private yacht charters
This is also an excellent time to combine destinations such as Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, and Bali in one seamless itinerary.
July and August: Peak Summer Travel
These are popular months for families travelling during school holidays.
Bali enjoys excellent weather, while much of Vietnam remains warm and sunny, particularly along the central coast around Da Nang and Hoi An. Northern Vietnam can experience occasional summer showers, but travel is still very rewarding.
Luxury resorts and villas tend to book early during this period, especially in Bali.
September to Early November: A Hidden Gem
This is one of our favorite times to travel.
Bali remains sunny and dry, while northern Vietnam begins to cool after summer. Rice terraces in regions such as Sapa and Mu Cang Chai turn shades of gold, creating some of the country’s most spectacular landscapes.
The crowds of summer have largely disappeared, and many luxury hotels offer better availability.
Ideal for:
- Couples and honeymooners
- Photography journeys
- Wellness escapes
- Cultural and culinary experiences
December to March: Winter Escapes and Tropical Sunshine
Southern Vietnam enjoys warm, dry weather during these months, making destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta, and Phu Quoc particularly appealing.
Bali enters its green season, bringing occasional tropical showers, usually in the afternoon or evening. Despite the rain, the island becomes beautifully lush and remains an excellent destination for spa retreats, private villas, and slower-paced escapes.
Why travel during this period?
- Fewer crowds in Bali
- Lush landscapes and dramatic scenery
- Excellent weather in southern Vietnam
- Festive holiday atmosphere and luxury resort experiences
Our Recommendation
For the perfect balance of weather across both destinations, we recommend travelling in April, May, June, September, or October.
These months offer sunny days in Bali, comfortable conditions across much of Vietnam, and the ideal setting for combining cultural discoveries, luxury beach stays, and unforgettable experiences.
